Acquisition committee

The acquisition committee aims to raise funds for the West Gonja Hospital in Ghana. It does this by organizing various sponsor projects, such as the Run4Ghana (during Maastricht Mooiste), a benefit dinner, Merry MUSTANGH (the Christmas celebration) and an art auction. To stay informed about the organized activities you can visit the MUSTANGH Instagram as well as the Facebook page.

The raised funds entirely go to the West Gonja Hospital, where we finance the studies of various doctors and nurses. Below “ongoing projects” you can read about the doctors who are completing their studies via our sponsorship. The acquisition committee meets once every two weeks to discuss the organization of the various sponsoring projects.

This year, Joram Voordijk will lead the committee and she will work together with:

Luna Meeuwisse

I am Luna Meeuwisse and I am 19 years old. I live in Maastricht, but I’m originally from Eindhoven where you can still find me regularly. At the moment I’m in my 2nd year of Biomedical Sciences. In my spare time I sport at UM Sport, I like to meet up with friends and I have a side job in the catering industry. This is my 1st year with the acquisition committee of Mustangh, which I am of course very excited about! Mustangh has already done a lot of good for WGH, but of course there are always new, challenging goals to achieve and I hope to be able to contribute to that. I am looking forward to a fun and educational year in which we will hopefully achieve great results!

Lonneke van den Burg

My name is Lonneke van den Burg, I’m 20 years old and I’m from Den Hout, but I’m now living in rooms in Maastricht. Currently I am in my 3rd year of Medicine at the University of Maastricht. In my spare time I work in homecare, I’m also active at the field hockey club in Maastricht and I’m a member of a ladies’ club of MSV Tragos. Next year will be my 1st year at MUSTANGH, where I will be part of the acquisition committee. I am really looking forward to getting involved with West Gonja Hospital because I like to lend a helping hand to others, so also in this indirect way. I hope to make many connections with the committee, in order to achieve a nice result for the WGH this year!

Doortje Driessen

My name is Doortje Driessen and I am 19 years old. I have just started with Medicine, and last year I studied Biomedical Sciences. This is my first Mustangh year, and I am very excited. I grew up in Heeze, but now I live in Maastricht of course. I live in the one-and-only Huize Condor. Besides my student house and Mustangh I am active as well in O.M.G.M. MAX, the sailing association Lagakari and I play hockey here. I just started working in home care, so I have enough fun things to keep me busy. This year, I will be part of the acquisition commission, and I cannot wait to collect money for the WGH. I am looking forward to this year and everything that will come. This will be an enormously fun and educative experience.

Byrthe Sikkema

My name is Byrthe Sikkema, I am 19 years old and I am a first year student in Medicine. Last summer I moved from my old student city Amsterdam to the beautiful Maastricht, where I now live! In my spare time I like to travel, cook, drink cocktails with friends and play sports every now and then. I also have a part-time job in domestic help. This will be my 1st year for Mustangh and I look forward to doing my part on the Acquisition Committee. Since it has always been my childhood dream to help in a hospital abroad, I am really looking forward to my time with Mustangh. With the rest of the committee we are looking forward to a wonderful year and I hope to mean as much as possible for the West-Gonja Hospital!
